GIORGIO ARMANI TO HOST ISRAELI DESIGNER DAIZY SHELY DURING MILAN FASHION WEEK

Spring 2016 season

Over the past 10 seasons, Giorgio Armani has underlined his commitment to nurturing Milan's next generation of fashion designers by hosting a show for one lucky label in his Armani/Teatro space during fashion week. Past presenters like Angelos Bratis and Stella Jean have gone on to become some of the buzziest names on Milan's fashion calendar, and on Friday Armani announced the spring 2016 recipient of this honor: Israeli-born designer Daizy Shely.

Shely, who started her eponymous line in 2011, has lived in Milan since 2009 and was the 2014 winner of the "Who Is on Next?"competition, a talent search put on by AltaRoma and Vogue Italia. On her website, her namesake collection of womenswear is described as "dark and mysterious" as well as "romantic and imaginative," and her dramatic pieces focus on strong silhouettes in luxurious materials like feathers, silk and leather.

Milan is a city where the old guard still very much reigns — and where getting a coveted slot on the fashion calendar can be a near-impossible task for new designers — so being handpicked by one of Milan's most famous names is an invaluable opportunity. We'll certainly be watching when Shely presents her spring 2016 collection later this month.
